I feel an incredible depressive weight on my shoulders, at the moment. This past week, but especially today’s news, lies heavy upon my heart. There are two things I am sure of, that Jesus Christ is the Lord of lords and the King of kings, and that America will never be the same.
Most of us have heard of the horrific, despicable, violent murder of Iryna Zarutska—the Ukranian refugee of 23 years old who was stabbed to death by an evil man who must be swiftly brought to justice. Just within the past two hours, conservative activist and TurningPointUSA spokesperson Charlie Kirk was shot at an event in Utah. President Donald Trump just announced his death as I wrote that last sentence. Rest in glory, brother. May my readers pray for his family.
The news about Charlie Kirk strikes especially close to me, and a number of my very close and dear friends in the abolitionist community, as cultural engagement and evangelism on college campuses is a frequent activity of ours. I really do feel sick to my stomach, and I am praying to God my Father to grant me wisdom and perseverance.
I am not the only one who has this feeling that the world is changing, rapidly. As in, right at this very moment. I do not believe that the life you were living in August will be the same in October. It is possible that people will be selfish, and apathetic—putting all of this behind them to focus upon their business and pleasure, but humans are still human and selfishness is not the only thing we feel. Rather, I do believe something is stirring, something is awakening.
The agitators talk about a race war, and it seems that the divide in my nation of the United States of America is the strongest it has been in my lifetime. However, I do not believe talking about a race war gets at the real heart of the issue. Genesis 3:15 tells us that there is enmity placed between the children of the serpent and the children of the promise—the city of God vs the city of man. Bible believers know the outcome of this conflict, but we also know that we are still in it. What is going to happen? Riots in the street? Violence? War?
We do know that while temporal matters are important, and men must be willing to defend family and country by any means the Law of God permits, that the city of God does not triumph via the sword. That is the amazing thing about the Kingdom of Heaven, that while it is in this world it is not of it.
I am not a prophet and I am not going to try to prophesy, I just express these feelings because I cannot keep them bottled up. I am horribly sad, and I am angry. I am not frightened. “Do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread of them” as one prophet spoke (Isaiah 8:12).
We cannot live, and we will not survive apart from the Lord’s blessing. I implore my readers to pursue the Kingdom of God, to pursue righteousness and to fear the Lord. He will be our strength and our shield. Those who reckon with eternity ought to view sin as an evil thing (as a transgression of the Law) but also as a great waste of time. Doesn’t it all seem utterly worthless? When you see a man, a Christian, standing up for what he believes to be God’s will shot dead by a godless individual, every lust, every profanity, every blasphemy, every sinful anger, every impatience, every complaint seems so futile.
Memories of yesteryear look like still photographs of another world. Virtue is remembered only be a few. The good old days are all gone.
Do not be discouraged, we are not fighting for the past.
The future belongs to the Lord and to His servants, and it is the meek who inherit the earth. Dear reader, pray you be right with the Lord. Confide in Him, cast your everlasting soul upon His mercy and grace. The writing is on the wall, written with the finger of God. Let His Law-Word guide you, and hold fast to the covenant. Do not fall into sin, nor into petty squabbles. Say things that are wise, meaningful and true—then live up to your words. It’ll all be okay.
God rest the soul of Charlie Kirk.
Praying for Charlie Kirk's family and all who personally knew him. He was a great man who fought for an important cause, standing for the One and Only God. Please - I ask you all, please - pray for the comfort of all who mourn and that righteous justice may be served.
Amen.
